Some thoughts from this week’s reading:
- My first thought is that there is so much detail in these chapters. My reflections will not be an in-depth study!
- In chapter 24, we read about the covenant between God and his people. Covenant is defined as an agreement. God’s covenant refers to a relationship of commitment between God and his people. All of the instructions and laws were because God loved his people.
**The Almighty Creator, God of All, wants a relationship with each of us. May we choose each day to deepen our devotion to the Lord.
- In chapter 24:3-4, we read that Moses tells the people all of the Lord’s words and laws. The people respond “Everything the Lord has said we will do.” I imagine the people meant what they said in that moment. I imagine that they were in awe of the events taking place and they believed they would do everything they were told to do.
**Experience shows that all of us fall short. When I read in the Old Testament, I am grateful I know about God sending His Son Jesus as Savior. He is the ultimate sacrifice.
- Chapters 25-27 describe the tabernacle and its furnishings. The tabernacle was a portable sanctuary for God’s presence to be among his people. There are specific measurements to follow and specific materials required. Every detail is accounted for.
**As I read, I kept thinking that God is a God of details. He brings all the details together. He doesn’t miss anything, ever.
- Chapter 28 describes the priestly garments and chapter 29 addresses the consecration of the priests. To consecrate means to “set apart for a specific use or service.”
**We find a summary statement in Exodus 29:44-46: “So I will consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar and will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests. Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God. They will know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.”
Ephesians 3:16-17a: “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”
